I had a great experience at this centre and am sorry to have left due to moving away. Nut, Hannah, Pat, Cher, and Lily have been so supportive of my daughter's development at the centre. They are warm and caring and always had a welcoming smile when I was there. They would take the children out on regular excursions, hold regular music days, provide cooking sessions and craft activities. The centre itself is very spacious and clean. Mona and Shiva were also lovely on the administration side. Five stars

My first child spent 3 wonderful years at Guardian 101 Collins as we both work nearby. The location is excellent for us. The centre provided everything for us so we literally walked in with the child and walked out. The staff was always lovely and the management team was very responsive to our emails. We were happy with the meals provided and the range of curriculum/activities they offered. My child made a seamless transition into sessional kindergarten and we are grateful for our positive experience with Guardian 101 in his early years.

Our little one has been going here 3 days per week for over a year. The educators are top notch and really care about the kids as individuals. Our daughter has learned so much, and absolutely loves attending. They learn about yoga, art, aboriginal culture, numbers, and international topics. The food is amazing too. I can't praise Guardian enough, it is a little more pricey than some other centre's but well worth it.

Amazing childcare at the top end of the CBD in Melbourne. Sprawling play areas and lots of educational games and lessons provided for the babies and older children. The carers are genuinely interested in ensuring the kids are happy and occupied. Have been very pleased with the centre’s communication, both directly, and via the StoryPark app. Would not hesitate to recommend the centre, our little one loves it.

Today was the last day my son Elias (9 months old) spent in this centre as we are transitioning him to a centre near home. My husband and I can’t appreciate enough for the love and care my son have received from the educators. Huge thank you to Sophie, Gemma, Neri - You guys are AMAZING. You show genuine love and care to the babies and because of you my husband and I could walk out the centre comfortably knowing that our son will have a good day. Thank you thank you thank you xx ! Sad to say goodby as we have no idea if the new centre will match to this one!

Our Collins Street childcare centre offers:

  • Quality learning programs such as Joy of Reading, Cooking and Sustainability

These impressive environments encourage children to explore and discover. Our included learning programs provide opportunity for children to develop confidence, independence, self-awareness, and self-worth.

Children attending our Centre will also have the chance to see the same familiar faces as they move on up from our nursery room, into our Collins St Kindergarten Program, designed specifically to help prepare your child to transition from early learning to primary school.

The Victorian Government offers funding to provide families up to 15 hours of Free Kindergarten a week, in addition to the Childcare Subsidy. The funding offsets the fees for three and four-year-old children that are part of the Centre’s long day care Kindergarten program. Families will save up to $2,050 a year for children aged three years old and above in eligible long day cares in 2024. Ask us for more information when you visit our Centre.

But the children are not confined to the Centre, with regular excursions out and about into the community. Favourite locations include the National Gallery of Victoria, Flinders Street, Treasury Gardens and Federation Square. On these adventures, the children have the opportunity to explore the exhibits, have a picnic, play some games or visit the animals.

The excursion program has been a part of the curriculum at our day care in Collins Street Melbourne since the Centre first opened, as the team is passionate about the children being involved in the community.

Our on-site cook prepares five nutritionally balanced meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients every day. Children enjoy their meals in the dedicated piazza and participate in regular hands-on cooking classes to further explore their understanding of nutrition.

To stay connected to families, you will have access to our family communication app, StoryPark. Here, we share relevant updates on your child’s day and any other important Centre updates.

We value the role of families as a child’s first teacher. At Guardian Collins St childcare, we are committed to developing trusting relationships by listening and responding to families about all aspects of their child’s learning and development. So, our approach is focused on the latest research into quality care and learning opportunities. and insights into how children learn best and the specific skills they will need to thrive.

Our unique Visible Learning program allows families to witness their child’s progress first-hand. The Learning Exchange is a display in each learning space showing what your child is doing on any given day. Here, our Teachers and Educators will share with you any significant updates on your child’s development and your child’s education and provide the chance for you to share your own goals and visions – providing direct input into your child’s educational journey!

We have a dedicated Baby Ambassador in our nursery room to help ensure that your child’s experience with us is a beautiful one that your whole family can enjoy.

"I am excited and passionate about being part of their amazing learning process and seeing them grow from babies to transitioning to school"

Where children are supported to be brave, curious, and bold in their learning, for the best possible start to life.

Rhythm of the Day

With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment at Guardian and no two days are the same. Here’s what a day at Guardian might look like.

With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment and no two days are the same.

Handover time with children, families and our friendly Educators. There's a chance for conversation to share what's important for the day/what's happened the night before at home.

Breakfast time where families are welcome to stay and enjoy breakfast with the children.

As children are arriving and families are coming and going, there's an opportunity for play as well as family grouping, open-plan play and multi-age grouping.

There's an opportunity for children to come together and enjoy morning tea.

Following morning tea, the planned experiences continue. This includes both indoor and outdoor programs.

There's an opportunity for children to come together for lunch. With an open-door policy, families are able to join the centre for meals and excursion if they wish.

For children who want to, or need to, there's an opportunity to sleep, rest or relax. For children who don't need to rest, there are planned experiences, which are more likely to be outdoors.

Children come together for afternoon tea in small groups or with siblings (they can also rest and play together, too). This time also presents an opportunity to reflect on the day.

As families arrive to pick up children, there's an opportunity to speak to Educators and share information about the day.

Some centres offer early tea or light snack at the end of the day, which they can grab as they leave the centre. We’re mindful of how routines vary at home, so if throughout the day, we notice children look tired, food will be provided.

What's included in the Guardian Experience

Learning should be fun! Learning through play allows children to build their knowledge, develop confidence, and embrace curiosity.

Kindergarten/Preschool Program

Our specialist two-year kindergarten/preschool program is led by degree qualified Teachers in a long day care setting. Children explore and understand their world in an environment of safety and security. It’s where they develop the foundational literacy and numeracy skills to thrive.

Our Centre is a recipient of funding as part of the VIC Government’s Free Kinder Program. Eligible children aged three years and above will receive up to $2,050 in additional subsidies. Ask for more details when you tour the centre.

Out and about

Through excursions, children are supported to expand their world, to get to know their community, and have a sense of belonging. Their learning thrives when they feel safe, welcome, and that they belong.

STEM

Children discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through age-appropriate activities that are designed to foster curiosity and develop foundational skills like problem-solving and creativity.

Cooking

Cooking experiences teach numeracy by counting ingredients, and weighing and measuring quantities and volume, while managing these tasks supports independence and confidence.

Ella Language

Learning languages through Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) supports brain development and social skills and creates opportunities to celebrate cultural diversity.

Joy of Reading

Reading aloud to children each day inspires imagination and supports thinking. Books with rhythm, rhyme and word patterns make stories more playful and memorable.

Sustainability

From growing veggies and foraging in the garden for that day’s meal ingredients to learning about recycling, children learn about being part of a community, connecting to their environment and understanding their impact on the world.
