Guardian Childcare & Education Collins Street

Guardian Childcare & Education Collins Street NQS Rated Exceeding by ACECQA

Our centre has been recognised as ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Standard. This is the highest rating you can receive from a regulatory authority assessment and we are proud to deliver an exceptional service to the children and families who attend our centre.

Guardian Childcare & Education Collins Street is conveniently located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, which means families can access the highest quality education and care in close proximity to work. All with less rushing around and more time with your child!

Warm and homey, Guardian Collins Street boasts a range of resource-rich environments, including a family dining area, city views, simulated outdoor spaces, vibrant gardens, a treehouse and multiple water play areas. These outstanding learning environments encourage the children to explore and learn.

The Centre has the added benefit of a quality education Kindergarten Program led by quality teachers who are there to help prepare your child for the exciting transition to school through our school readiness program. Our Kindergarten Programs provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to develop confidence, independence, self-awareness, and self-worth.

But the children are not confined to the Centre, with regular excursions out into the community. Favourite locations include the National Gallery of Victoria, Flinders Street, Treasury Gardens and Federation Square. On these adventures, the children have the opportunity to explore the exhibits, have a picnic, play some games or visit the animals.

Read more about the Guardian Collins Street Excursion Program on our blog. Assistant Centre Manager Soledad said: “We organise our excursions so that all the age groups get a chance to leave the Centre each week. One day we might take the babies to the park, and the next, the kinder children to the museum or an art gallery.”

“The children are as much a part of the community as we are as adults. Our daily excursions have strengthened their connection to their surroundings and the local businesses.”

The excursion program has been a part of the curriculum at Guardian Collins Street since the Centre opened, as the team is passionate about the children being involved in the community.

Our on-site cook Fernando prepares five nutritionally balanced meals using seasonal ingredients every day. Here Fernando shares his famous recipe for Italian Pork Ragú Lasagne – the dish is a firm favourite among the children and Educators at Guardian Collins Street. Children enjoy their meals in the dedicated piazza while socialising with peers and educators and participate in regular hands-on cooking classes to further explore their understanding of nutrition.

To stay connected to families, you will have access to our family communication app, StoryPark. Here, we share relevant updates on your child’s day and any other important Centre updates.

We value the role of families as a child’s first teacher. At Guardian Childcare, we are committed to developing trusting relationships by listening and responding to families about all aspects of their child’s learning and development. So, our approach is focused on the latest research into quality care and learning opportunities. and insights into how children learn best and the specific skills they will need to thrive.

We use our own bespoke program of Visible Learning to witness your child’s progress first-hand. The Learning Exchange is a display in each learning space showing what your child is doing on any given day. Here, our Teachers and Educators will share with you any significant updates on your child’s development and your child’s education and provide the chance for you to share your own goals and visions – providing direct input into your child’s educational journey!

Our Centre welcomes children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. We have a dedicated Baby Ambassador in our nursery room to help ensure that your child’s experience with us is a beautiful one that your whole family can enjoy.

Learn More About Our Centre

Guardian Childcare & Education Centres provide over 11,000 families across Australia with the peace of mind and confidence that their child is receiving the best education and care every single day. Providing long day care as well as vacation care, Guardian Collins Street is no different.

Staffed by a team of highly professional and experienced Educators, we provide a bright and inspiring space that caters to all interests and levels of development. Our multicultural Educators bring a range of languages into the Centre including Mandarin, Arabic, French, Greek, Pilipino, Indonesian and Indian.

We offer delicious, seasonal and nutritionally-balanced meals that are specially crafted by our in-house chefs to give children all the nutrients that growing minds and bodies need. Our family dining area encourages families to have breakfast with us (we provide a selection of cereals, toast, spreads and fruit) to help bridge the gap from home to care, creating quality family time and a smooth transition to the start of the working and learning day ahead.

Our unique curriculum prepares children for successful lifelong learning, and our specially designed indoor and outdoor environments have been created to promote learning, curiosity and adventure, as well as provide the space for all-important quiet time and rest.

We love taking our children out on daily excursions into the CBD and surrounds in our eight-seater prams. For these children, the city is their teacher and they love indulging in the culture and creativity on offer. Excursions include visits to the library, art gallery, gardens, playgrounds, museum, cafes and even the graffiti covered lanes of the CBD.

We’re passionate about building relationships with all of our families, and believe that two-way communication is of paramount importance. So whether you have questions, feedback, or suggestions on how we can make the Guardian experience even better for you and your child, we’re always happy to have a chat and develop something that works for you. Our open door policy means that families are welcome to come in at any time throughout the day to play, feed or just to say hi.
