Meet our Centre Manager

I’m Monica Cooper and I am the Centre Manager at Guardian Early Learning Centre – Everton Hills. I’ve been working in early education since 2003 and I am currently in my final year of a teaching degree. As an advocate for children’s rights, I believe that all children should be provided with the opportunities to be the best person they can be. I believe that children should be valued as strong, capable and resilient learners rich with wonder and knowledge.

The most rewarding part of being in the early childhood profession is to be given the privilege to be working with children, watching them learn and achieve. I personally love to watch their wonder increase the more they learn. Young children grow at a rapid pace and they rely on the guidance of educators to help them adapt and grow into responsible, respectful, intellectually curious human beings. It is our job as educators to foster children’s growth and development by building on children’s interest, needs and strengths within a safe and caring environment.

My mother is my greatest inspiration. Having travelled to a foreign country with eight young children she triumphed through diversity. She taught me to embrace exciting challenges that enabled me to apply and grow my distinctive personal talents. As the inspiring leader of our family unit, my mother always provided each one of us with opportunities to make the most of ourselves and thereby to maximise the positive impact we have on the people and the community that we belong to.

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my husband and four children. I also umpire for Netball Queensland at state events, and most recently I have begun learning and enjoying the art of crotchet.
