Welcome to our Centre
Welcome to Guardian Childcare & Education Mulgrave, formerly Platypus Junction Mulgrave. Conveniently situated in Nexus Business Park, our childcare centre at Mulgrave is generously spread across two levels. It has five separate age grouped rooms from babies’ nursery through to 4-year-old kindergarten. Each room features its own outdoor space and large windows for ample light and views to the surrounding neighbourhood.

Rhythm of the Day
With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment at Guardian and no two days are the same. Here’s what a day at Guardian might look like.
With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment and no two days are the same.
Handover time with children, families and our friendly Educators. There's a chance for conversation to share what's important for the day/what's happened the night before at home.
Breakfast time where families are welcome to stay and enjoy breakfast with the children.
As children are arriving and families are coming and going, there's an opportunity for play as well as family grouping, open-plan play and multi-age grouping.
There's an opportunity for children to come together and enjoy morning tea.
Following morning tea, the planned experiences continue. This includes both indoor and outdoor programs.
There's an opportunity for children to come together for lunch. With an open-door policy, families are able to join the centre for meals and excursion if they wish.
For children who want to, or need to, there's an opportunity to sleep, rest or relax. For children who don't need to rest, there are planned experiences, which are more likely to be outdoors.
Children come together for afternoon tea in small groups or with siblings (they can also rest and play together, too). This time also presents an opportunity to reflect on the day.
As families arrive to pick up children, there's an opportunity to speak to Educators and share information about the day.
Some centres offer early tea or light snack at the end of the day, which they can grab as they leave the centre. We’re mindful of how routines vary at home, so if throughout the day, we notice children look tired, food will be provided.

Formerly Platypus Junction Mulgrave, we continue to uphold a commitment to quality early education and care.
Our childcare centre in Mulgrave is designed with bright, engaging materials that spark curiosity and encourage children to discover the world around them. Supported by a team of university-qualified Teachers and Educators, we focus on helping children develop social and emotional skills during these critical early years. By fostering creativity and imagination, we provide a nurturing environment tailored to the unique needs of young learners.
We value family involvement and support parents in extending learning beyond the classroom. Our Educators offer guidance on how to incorporate the centre’s learning experiences at home. Through our family communication app, Storypark, parents receive daily updates and photos, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and developmental milestones. Storypark also helps track individualized learning outcomes to ensure children achieve key milestones and develop new skills.
For children aged three and four, our kindergarten program is led by university-qualified Teachers and is designed to prepare them for the transition to primary school. Aligned with the National Quality Standard and featuring the Victorian Government Kinder Tick, our curriculum ensures your child receives the best start to life through quality education and care.

We’re committed to children’s nutrition, and our on-site cook prepares each meal fresh and packed with all the nutrients that children need at their age. We also encourage exploration of the cultural heritage behind different foods, helping promote diversity and inclusion from an early age.
As part of our unique Visible Learning Program, families will be able to gain an understanding of their child’s education. Our Learning Exchange Display will provide the opportunity for our Teachers and Educators to share updates on your child’s progress. Kindergarten Program
Our specialist two-year kindergarten/preschool program is led by degree qualified Teachers in a long day care setting. Children explore and understand their world in an environment of safety and security. It’s where they develop the foundational literacy and numeracy skills to thrive.
Out and about
Through excursions, children are supported to expand their world, to get to know their community, and have a sense of belonging. Their learning thrives when they feel safe, welcome, and that they belong.
STEM
Children discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through age-appropriate activities that are designed to foster curiosity and develop foundational skills like problem-solving and creativity.
Cooking
Cooking experiences teach numeracy by counting ingredients, and weighing and measuring quantities and volume, while managing these tasks supports independence and confidence.
Ella Language
Learning languages through Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) supports brain development and social skills and creates opportunities to celebrate cultural diversity.
Joy of Reading
Reading aloud to children each day inspires imagination and supports thinking. Books with rhythm, rhyme and word patterns make stories more playful and memorable.
Sustainability
From growing veggies and foraging in the garden for that day’s meal ingredients to learning about recycling, children learn about being part of a community, connecting to their environment and understanding their impact on the world.

We lived in the area for around 10 months and sent our son here during this time - he was in Nursery 1 and then 2 . We have moved away now and will be using a new daycare closer to home and I can't express how much we will miss the educators at Guardian Fullarton, especially Emily L, Lettuce and Georgia. Theyare so caring, passionate, nurturing and supportive - our son absolutely loves them and says their names on the way to and from daycare. He always has the biggest smile on his face when I go to pick him up and I feel confident and comfortable knowing he was in the best of hands. I'm so grateful for everything Guardian Fullarton did for our family - Rosalie you should be so proud, your team is 10/10.We will really miss Guardian and if we ever move back to the area, we hope to send our son there again.

We’ve been sending our 16mth old son here for 5 months and have been very happy with the care they provide. The educators are extremely caring & have passion and skill for what they do. It’s never an easy transition to childcare for the first time, for parents as well as little ones, and they made it easy for us. I have confidence leaving my son there. The food provided is all cooked on site and really great.The site is purpose built, with lovely big bright rooms. The play equipment and toys are also wonderful. The outdoor area is shaded, with large sandpits, and I love how they’ve got little vege boxes too, which they plant with the children. They do creative activities with the kids and I love the little photo updates on the app to show us some of what they’ve done.
