Where children are supported to be brave, curious, and bold in their learning, for the best possible start to life.

Rhythm of the Day

With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment at Guardian and no two days are the same. Here’s what a day at Guardian might look like.

With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment and no two days are the same.

Handover time with children, families and our friendly Educators. There's a chance for conversation to share what's important for the day/what's happened the night before at home.

Breakfast time where families are welcome to stay and enjoy breakfast with the children.

As children are arriving and families are coming and going, there's an opportunity for play as well as family grouping, open-plan play and multi-age grouping.

There's an opportunity for children to come together and enjoy morning tea.

Following morning tea, the planned experiences continue. This includes both indoor and outdoor programs.

There's an opportunity for children to come together for lunch. With an open-door policy, families are able to join the centre for meals and excursion if they wish.

For children who want to, or need to, there's an opportunity to sleep, rest or relax. For children who don't need to rest, there are planned experiences, which are more likely to be outdoors.

Children come together for afternoon tea in small groups or with siblings (they can also rest and play together, too). This time also presents an opportunity to reflect on the day.

As families arrive to pick up children, there's an opportunity to speak to Educators and share information about the day.

Some centres offer early tea or light snack at the end of the day, which they can grab as they leave the centre. We’re mindful of how routines vary at home, so if throughout the day, we notice children look tired, food will be provided.

Learn More About Our Centre

Guardian Childcare & Education Tempe offers the warmth and comfort of a family home, right in the heart of Sydney’s vibrant inner west. We provide a diverse and engaging range of learning programs designed to help your child develop key skills for life.

Our spacious day care and child care centre provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged six weeks to six years of age, supporting them to discover the world in a safe and secure way. The centre is filled with bright, stimulating materials that encourage children to explore and engage their curiosity to discover more about the exciting world around them.

In our approach to early childhood education, we believe in embracing our children’s interests and encouraging creative expression, whether that’s individually or collaboratively. Project-based learning allows children to extend their knowledge and abilities in both small and large groups.

Children are supported through those important early years to explore and develop their social and emotional skills through their early learning journey by a dedicated team of university-qualified Teachers and Educators. They create learning experiences in a nurturing environment that fosters creativity and imagination in a safe environment for young age groups.

Guardian Tempe is open from 7.00am to 6.00pm every weekday, so each family are provided with plenty of flexible care for the hours they work and the time they choose to drop off and pick up their child. During drop-off or pick-up times, we encourage you to stay for a little while and spend some time exploring the learning environment.

When you book a tour, our amazing staff of Educators and Teachers can talk about the various play materials and education spaces throughout the Centre and help you discover some ways to continue learning at home. We encourage involving the whole family in their child’s care and education to ensure they are happy as they learn and grow.

Our family communication app, Storypark, provides you with photos and updates on your child throughout the day, offering you the opportunity to stay informed about your child’s early learning and development. We also set up different learning outcomes for the children through Storypark, which supports them in achieving developmental milestones and understanding new ideas.

For children aged three and four, we have a preschool program led by university-qualified Teachers that can support your child in their preparation for the step up into primary school. Our preschool curriculum is based on leading child development research and demonstrates our commitment to providing the best possible start to life for your child through quality child care services.

Our early childhood education program is led by specialist Educational Leaders who guide teaching and learning in a flexible and research-supported way. The leading curriculum supports discovery and gives children the best start to life, as well as being aligned with the National Quality Standard.

Through our high-quality preschool program, children have the opportunity to learn some of the skills that are often only introduced in early primary school. We begin learning and exploring shapes, numbers and letters through fun, play-based activities.

We develop each child’s literacy and numeracy skills to help them feel confident and prepared during the challenging leap into primary school. Our high-quality program supports the needs and routines of each of our families, and we ensure each child’s cultural and family background is supported and encouraged.

As part of our quality early learning service, we’re committed to children’s nutrition, and our on-site cook prepares each meal fresh and packed with all the nutrients that children need at their age. We encourage children to engage in food preparation and to ask questions about where their food comes from, why it’s good for them, and how they can eat it. We also encourage exploration of the cultural heritage behind different foods, helping promote diversity and inclusion from an early age.

As part of our unique Visible Learning Program, families will be able to gain an understanding of their child’s education. Our Learning Exchange Display will provide the opportunity for our Teachers and Educators to share updates on your child’s progress. It will also be a chance for you to have direct input into your child’s learning!

Learning should be fun! Learning through play allows children to build their knowledge, develop confidence, and embrace curiosity.

2 yr Kindergarten Program

Our specialist two-year kindergarten program is led by degree qualified Teachers in a long day care setting. Children explore and understand their world in an environment of safety and security. It’s where they develop the foundational literacy and numeracy skills to thrive.

Out and about

Through excursions, children are supported to expand their world, to get to know their community, and have a sense of belonging. Their learning thrives when they feel safe, welcome, and that they belong.

STEM

Children discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through age-appropriate activities that are designed to foster curiosity and develop foundational skills like problem-solving and creativity.

Cooking

Cooking experiences teach numeracy by counting ingredients, and weighing and measuring quantities and volume, while managing these tasks supports independence and confidence.

Ella Language

Learning languages through Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) supports brain development and social skills and creates opportunities to celebrate cultural diversity.

Joy of Reading

Reading aloud to children each day inspires imagination and supports thinking. Books with rhythm, rhyme and word patterns make stories more playful and memorable.

Sustainability

From growing veggies and foraging in the garden for that day’s meal ingredients to learning about recycling, children learn about being part of a community, connecting to their environment and understanding their impact on the world.

Great centre, lovely team in the Nursery. Loved being kept up to date on my daughters day on the app and knowing her nap times to help with routine when she gets home. We felt very welcomed for her first daycare experience. We’re also kept aware of viral outbreaks and any other news

I believe Guardian Tempe is the best Childcare Centre in the area, it has the most spacious outdoor area rooftop for the children to explore. Yes, Certainly preschool room needs a bit of settling in, but it's working towards the excellence, hopefully with all of our ECT staffing coming back on board from their extended holidays...

Our 2 sons attend Guardian Childcare. First at Guardian Childcare in Coorparoo, Brisbane. And when we moved to Sydney we looked at 10 different centres to enrol our boys in however none lived up to the same standard that Guardian has. Our nearest Guardian Centre is actually 25 mins away from us but we feel that the travel is worth it as we know our child is receiving the best care among the best educators that I can find. Thank you guardian for upholding such a high standard and for the care you provide which is invaluable.

My son has been attending the centre since the November/20 and absolutely loves the staff. He has had the same educators from the toddlers room up to the preschoolers, which has given him so much confidence in the early stages of his life. His development has been fantastic and the best part is how caring his educators and staff in general are. My son asks to go to school on weekends, which is new to us, that is how much he enjoys being there. The centre has recently changed management teams, however, Grace and her crew are fabulous, taking onboard all feedback the parents provide and we have noticed how much better it is run now.On behalf of our little family, we would like to say a big thank you to Menaka, Luciana, Lily and all educators doing their absolute very best.

The new centre manager Grace is a capable leader, she has a keen sense of the group’s pivotal norms, she knows how to cultivate group identity and efficacy, which helps to bring my family’s confidence back to the services after having had so many unpleasant experiences, what’s more, my partner and I have decided to continue our son’s daycare services at Tempe centre. Keep up Grace and Tempe Team.

My daughter has been attending Guardian Childcare and Education Tempe this year through the pandemic and I am so pleased we decided to go ahead with her enrolment, we have just enrolled for 2022 also. She attends 2 days per week and I can tell she benefits from it in so many different ways, I can see that she looks forward to it as well which is by far the biggest benefit of all. I have found the educators to be warm, welcoming, patient and kind. They are always willing to communicate with the parents and keep us in the loop of the children's development and any information we may need to address during what has been a somewhat challenging time for all. I could not recommend a better service, we would have been lost without the them this year.

My bub started going to day care when she was only 7 months and I was very emotional and scared to send her to the day care. I was assured by the staff that they will take care and they actually do. I am so happy that I found the right day care for my baby. The educators are so amazing and so loving and caring. They ensure that the babies are learning something new everyday and are happy and smiling when they are in daycare. Not only the educators but the team leaders and centre manager are very supportive and understanding. They never mind if I call them several times in a day to check on my baby because I am a worrying mum. I think I found second home for my baby. They are like extended family to people like us who have no family here. Definitely recommend this daycare.

I took a tour of this lovely centre and enrolled right away, you know when somewhere feels special, when the educators take that extra moment to connect with both my son and I. He was so excited it was hard to leave, but again the room educators were there to help out, I love the cooked meals provided and the nappies available, two less things I need to deal with in the mornings. The staff were so friendly, my son and I can't wait to start!

My daughter has been going to Guardian Tempe for 2 years and we've never had any concerns or reservations about sending her to daycare. She loves attending and I've never had any issues settling her or concerns about leaving her. She particularly loves Thursday's when Miss Amy comes for Happy Feet and Friday's when the lovely center manager takes them for a yoga class. The communication is definitely getting better and StoryPark is a great tool that allows us to see photos and hear about what the kids have been up too through the day. Miss Karina is my daughter's 'focus educator' and she is delightful and always knows what's going on with my daughter.
