Clare Stewart from Acre Woods in Roseville is there to witness the behaviour and development of children throughout their early years. Although she sees children sometimes get rough and hurt each other, “this can be more about exploration or not being unable to appropriately express emotions, rather than bullying,” Clare says. “It’s not until they get older and learn the power of words, that aggressive behaviour can include exclusion and verbal torment.” Read more

According to Autism Spectrum Australia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects one in 100 Aussies, which is almost 230,000 people. What’s more, Autism affects almost four times as many boys than girls.

After a tragic car accident in the neighbourhood, the children at Acre Woods Eastwood and their families began to have conversations about the incident and what road safety means. This prompted the centre to introduce Road Safety Week to the August calendar of events to help reinforce children’s understanding about road safety and to develop their knowledge and awareness of common road rules.
