Despite our time at Guardian Walker Street being cut short, we are incredibly grateful for the care and warmth shown to our family during our time there. Ishini and her team of educators have been nothing short of exceptional – welcoming, attentive, and genuinely invested in the wellbeing of the children in their care. The quality of care we received was first class, and we felt reassured every day knowing our little one was in such capable and nurturing hands (Puja, Kavitha, Jenny, Lisa, Shaoli). We’re truly sad to be leaving and wish the wonderful team all the very best. Thank you for everything.

I just wanted to write a little review of this lovely centre. My girl has been there since she was 1 - and all of the management and educators have been the most gorgeous carers to her. The kids play and learn and laugh and get messy and it’s awesome. They hang out with different aged children too, in the great outdoor play area, which I have always wanted. This week they celebrated Holi (with a fabulous colour festival) and today we came home with a durian dessert from one of her educators - so lovely! We have an app that the carers update throughout the day with photos and stories of the kids activities that show how much they invest in the kids enjoyment and development, and amazing educational program (which I try and emulate at home). My daughter has a really hard time saying goodbye in the morning and her carers are so supportive to my daughter with cuddles, and to me with encouragement and sending me a couple of updates when I’m gone! She comes home beaming, with little hand movements and songs that she’s learnt and sand in everything which is GREAT! This is a beautiful centre!

My wife and I wish to share our deepest appreciation for the team at Guardian Childcare & Education Walker Street. From day one of our daughter attending the toddler room, all the way to her last day in the preschool room. Our family was graciously welcomed into the beautiful community that is Guardian Walker St.Ishini leads an incredible team of professional early childhood educators, who showed constant patience, support and dedication to our daughter during her time within the center.Ishini’s enthusiasm for childhood education, kindness to all those around her as well as her approach of treating the center as a community helped not only our daughter, but also my wife and I, in building a strong and supportive network of friends during the unfamiliar time in our lives as newer parents.Ishini is nothing short of an asset to the Guardian Childcare and Education brand and we will be forever grateful for her efforts put into welcoming our family within the center. We also wish to praise Joey as being a pillar of strength for our daughter during her time within the center. From the moment they met, he acutely read and understood her personality traits, emotional needs and social limits. He questioned us about our desires around her eduction, implemented strategies to assist in her educational development and confidence. It’s been a joy watching her develop skills, social connections and confidence in her self with the assistance of Joey. We cannot thank him enough for the work and time he dedicated to our daughter. It is something we will never forget as a family. We consider ourselves beyond lucky to have had our daughter be a part of the center and we will highly recommend any and all of the Guardian Childcare & Education centres based on the wonderful work by Ishini and the Walker Street team.

Wonderful First Daycare Experience! This is our first daycare experience with our first child, and we couldn’t be happier! The facilities are great, and there are so many engaging activities for the kids to participate in and learn. We always feel well taken care of by the educators, who are warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in the children's development. Our son has built a strong connection with both his educators and his little friends, and we’ve seen amazing growth in him since starting here. The only improvement we’d love to see is a better solution for the pram parking area. We appreciate the efforts to encourage parents to park neatly, but the space is still quite limited. There have been times when we had to take our pram back home because there wasn’t enough room.Overall, we highly recommend this childcare center and truly appreciate the care and effort put into making it a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for the children!

The team at Guardian are amazing, and always go the extra mile for the kids. We built great relationships with them and they have done so much for our daughter. Our daughter attended Guardian Childcare on Walker Street for 6 months from the age of 14 months. Our experience with the centre has been exceptional. The educators have shown so much care and attention, and she truly thrived during her time there. A lot of effort and thought is put into planning the various activities and she is always well entertained throughout the day. The centre also has a nice outdoor area where kids can engage in various activities. She is always well looked after, looked clean with clean nappy when she is picked up.Sadly we have had to leave because of our relocation. Guardian on Walker Street will always have a special place in our hearts. We would definitely recommend Guardian on Walker Street to any families looking for daycare in the area!

My son attended Guardian Walker Street from when he was 10 months old, and unfortunately we left the centre as we changed area. We had a wonderful experience at the Centre. Starting your bub in daycare is a big transition, and they were so supportive! We are so thankful for the centre for embracing our bubba and showing him such love, care and nurture. Really grateful for our experience. Would highly recommend.

We have attended Guardian Walker St nearly four years now, and the team there has been amazing to us. Our youngest loved going to Nursery 1, and when she had a health emergency the whole team had hands on deck and took such great care of her, we can’t thank them enough. Our eldest who at the time attended the preschool room was able to regularly visit his little sister when she was new and make her feel like home at the centre. Such lovely memories, thank you to the whole team!

My daughter had a great experience at childcare from the start. The staff had been truly amazing & patient with my daughter who has speech delay. They made sure to give her required encouragement & also did speech exercises with her out of their busy schedule. I cannot thank them enough for the progress my daughter made in her confidence within few months of joining. Very appreciative & special shoutout gor Verita, Aneeka & Ishini for the most amazing support.

Absolutely outstanding Early Childhood facility!Since beginning at Guardian my son has been so excited to go to school each day and has been in a happy mood when at home!My little one has a Level 2 ASD diagnosis and is non-verbal. Seeing his happiness and the bond he shares with the educators has been so important, and I can see how cared for and supported he is each day within the centre. This warmth and security has helped him so much in not only his happiness but his overall development. Guardian is an inclusive environment, and my little boy is able to access all the experiences on offer. In addition to the top-notch learning experiences his beautiful teachers provide, the other staff are supportive and friendly and the extras are dealt with efficiently and professionally.

This is one of the best child care centres on the north shore. Location is great, right in the centre of North Sydney, and the food seems great because our daughter had 3 servings at breakfast and lunch often (refusing solids at home of course). The staff are amazing and our daughter loved them. Our daughter's physical and verbal abilities came on leaps and bounds while she was there. Thanks Ishini and team :)

Everyone at Guardian Walker St is fantastic! My two-year-old daughter has been here for a year now, and she loves it! She is currently in the Toddler room with educator Sophia, and it is a great room! It is a very small room, so my daughter knows all the kids and they all get heaps of attention. She happily yells ‘I am back everybody!” after the weekend, and frequently looks at pictures of her friends and educators and says things like, “Oh Sophia, I love her!”.Ishini, the manager, is a fantastic and lovely person! She really cares about all the families at Guardian, and it shows! My daughter always comes home with wonderful stories and arts and craft projects, and always asks to go again the next day.All the educators are lovely people and I am very happy that we found Guardian Walker St as your daycare centre!

My little one started here when he was 3.5 months and has loved every day of it. All of the educators in the centre have taken great care of him and he has learnt so much in the time he was there. Sadly we had to leave due to moving interstate. If we were to move back to North Sydney there would be no hesitation to enrol him back into GC&E Walker st. Thank you to Ishini and her team for always taking great care of my baby. (We'll definitely pop in to say hi when we're in Sydney)

We have had a wonderful experience. Rebekah and her team are good communicators and caring. My child has thrived at the centre. Nura and Mandy in nursery 1 are fantastic. We have not had much interaction with other individual educators at this point but I have full confidence that they will be just as amazing.

Our daughter attended the Walker Street centre from 13months until aged 2.5yrs and we couldn't have been happier with the care she received. We were so sad to leave when we moved out of area. The educators are all so friendly, motivated and really focus on learning through a wide variety of play activities. The centre manager Ishini goes above and beyond within her role, really making you feel like you are family. Highly recommend this centre if you are living within the North Sydney area! We have remained within the Guardian family at another location and the great care continues!

Rhythm of the Day

We know children (and families) like routine. Whilst no two days of learning are ever the same - here's what a day at Guardian might look like.

Whilst no two days of learning are ever the same - here's what a day at Guardian might look like.

Handover time with children, families and our friendly Educators. There's a chance for conversation to share what's important for the day/what's happened the night before at home.

Breakfast time where families are welcome to stay and enjoy breakfast with the children.

As children are arriving and families are coming and going, there's an opportunity for play as well as family grouping, open-plan play and multi-age grouping.

There's an opportunity for children to come together and enjoy morning tea.

Following morning tea, the planned experiences continue. This includes both indoor and outdoor programs.

There's an opportunity for children to come together for lunch. With an open-door policy, families are able to join the centre for meals and excursion if they wish.

For children who want to, or need to, there's an opportunity to sleep, rest or relax. For children who don't need to rest, there are planned experiences, which are more likely to be outdoors.

Children come together for afternoon tea in small groups or with siblings (they can also rest and play together, too). This time also presents an opportunity to reflect on the day.

As families arrive to pick up children, there's an opportunity to speak to Educators and share information about the day.

Some centres offer early tea or light snack at the end of the day, which they can grab as they leave the centre. We’re mindful of how routines vary at home, so if throughout the day, we notice children look tired, food will be provided.

Walker Street North Sydney Centre Manager Image

Ishini

Our Centre team, led by our experienced Centre Manager Ishini, prides themselves on creating a great sense of community for all families.

Each role in the Centre is designed to work together to help create a nurturing environment for every child in each of our learning spaces.

In our Nursery Room, the dedicated team has a special role in creating secure attachments, routines, and strong relationships. Unique to Guardian nurseries is our Baby Ambassador, who is your go-to person for you and your baby’s first 12 months with us. They will know every detail about your baby: how breast or bottle milk is managed, how they like to eat, their sleeping routines, the nappies they wear, and more. With babies as young as six weeks in the Centre, it’s the Baby Ambassador’s job to work with families and Educators to help make our Nursery feel just like home.

Our Educators across the age groups work together to create fun, stimulating, and age-appropriate experiences for every child in their care. They are dedicated, experienced professionals who are allocated to a specific room so they can get to know each child individually and support their learning and development.

As part of our 2-year Flying Start to School program, we have degree-qualified Teachers who use the latest teaching practices to help your child build essential practical and social skills, ensuring they’re ready for their next big adventure—school!

Each room has a Lead Educator or Teacher who is responsible for planning and implementing an effective ongoing cycle of planning, documentation, and evaluation of the room’s learning program.

At the core of the Centre is our Cook—make sure you check out their daily menu when you visit. They help make food part of the learning journey and love seeing how children respond to new and exciting flavours.

The team is supported by a strong Leadership Team, including an Assistant Centre Manager and an Educational Leader.

Every role at the Centre is as important as the next.

How will you share updates about my child’s day?

Great communication is vital in our collaborative partnerships with families at the Centre. We have a variety of different ways we communicate with you about your child’s learning and progress:

  1. Storypark app - Stay connected to your child's day with regular updates, including photos and learning insights

  2. Pick-up and drop-off updates – Our Educators will share highlights from their day, including experiences they enjoyed, mealtimes, and naps to support your evening routine.

  3. In-room learning exchange displays make our weekly learning plans easy to see so you know what your child will be learning.

  4. Centre Newsletters – Great for community connection and wider Centre and team updates.

  5. Development documentation and meetings for your individual child’s progress.

But remember our door is always open.
