Childcare & Early Learning in Sydney CBD
Childcare close to work makes every day a little easier. Our three Sydney CBD centres, at Barangaroo, George Street and Phillip Street, keep your child close by through the working day. All three are open 6:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, for children from 6 weeks to 6 years.

Close to Work, Close to Your Child
Having your child’s centre near work changes the shape of the day. There’s less travelling between work, care and home, and you’re close enough to drop in for a special moment or keep breastfeeding when you return to work.
The city becomes part of your child’s learning too. Libraries, parks and galleries spark new interests, and a walk past a building site can turn into a conversation about how cities are built.
The Guardian Approach
Every Guardian centre is built on four things.
To BE Me is our own learning program. It follows your child’s interests and stage, from the nursery through to preschool, and shows you how their play connects to their development.
Safety+ is how we keep children safe. Personal phones and devices stay out of learning spaces, dedicated Safety Champions lead safety in our centres, and doors open with codes we update regularly.
Nutrition for Life starts in our kitchen. Our Chef prepares five fresh meals a day on site, and children are encouraged to try new flavours and build healthy eating habits for life.
Flying Start to School is our preschool program for children aged 3 to 5, led by qualified Teachers.
Child Care Subsidy and Fees
Many families are eligible for the Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which reduces your out-of-pocket fees. Each centre’s page shows its daily fees and an estimate of what you might pay after CCS. Our daily rates are all inclusive, covering meals, nappies and wipes, and all excursions and incursions.
Families with three and four-year-olds may also receive NSW Government Start Strong funding, which reduces preschool fees further on top of CCS. Explore our Family Guide to CCS or estimate your costs with our CCS Calculator.
Preparing Your Child for School
In NSW, the first year of school is called Kindergarten. Our Flying Start to School preschool program builds the confidence, early literacy and numeracy your child will carry into it. It follows the Early Years Learning Framework, and because it runs within long day care, your child keeps the same Teachers all year, school holidays included.
Frequently Asked Questions
What times are Guardian’s Sydney CBD centres open?
All three of our Sydney CBD centres, Barangaroo, George Street and Phillip Street, are open from 6:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
How do Start Strong and the Child Care Subsidy work together?
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) reduces out-of-pocket childcare costs for most families, based on income, recognised activity and hours of care. Start Strong is separate NSW Government funding for children aged three and four in a preschool program, and it applies on top of any CCS you receive. Our team can talk you through what your family may be eligible for.
At what age does a child start school in Sydney?
In NSW, children can start Kindergarten, the first year of school, at the beginning of the school year if they turn 5 on or before 31 July that year. Our Flying Start to School program prepares children aged 3 to 5 for that move.
What makes Guardian different from other Sydney childcare providers?
Four things. To BE Me, our own learning program. Safety+, our approach to keeping children safe. Nutrition for Life, with five fresh meals a day from our onsite Chef. And Flying Start to School, our preschool program led by qualified Teachers.
How do I choose between your Sydney CBD centres?
Each has its own character. At Barangaroo, in Tower 1, children visit our Chef in the open dining area and watch their meals take shape. George Street has an atelier and art studio, live music, and weekly sports and yoga. Phillip Street takes children into the neighbourhood on regular Out and About excursions. Book a tour to see which feels right for your family.
