Highly recommend this centre. It's a second home for both our kids during the week, since nursery up all the way until they hit their kinder years. The staff get to know your children and develop a genuine connection with them - truely reliable, honest, supportive, patient and understanding educators. A shout out to all the current staff there, but a special mention to those who have seen our children through the years and stuck at the centre: Ashleigh, Sal, Ada, Noila, Hannah, Paris, Ghaz, Janet and to the up and coming new generation of young individuals - Chantelle and BJ - the kids adore you.

We absolutely love Guardian Blackburn South. The management team (Ashleigh, Sal, and Mag) is fantastic. Communication is always clear and easy, and they’re so approachable and reachable whenever we have questions. We also really enjoy the fortnightly newsletters and the Storypark platform — such a great way to stay connected with what’s happening in the centre.

The teachers and educators are amazing — caring, professional, and so engaged with the children. The programs from nursery to kinder are fun, creative, and thoughtfully planned. Our little one is always excited to go and comes home full of stories and new learning. We couldn’t be happier! Highly recommended for anyone who’s looking for an amazing day care.

My daughter went to Guardian Blackburn South, after moving from another childcare in the area and we couldn't have been happier with them! We both work full-time so it was so important for us to choose the right place that felt like a second home, and Guardian was exactly that. The educators took care of her like she was their own. Friendships and her confidence just blossomed and seeing the difference at pick up and drop off was just incredible. She used to cry at drop off at her previous child care to and then at Guardian she didn't want to leave!

They have so many fun incursions and dress-up days and really involve the parents, so you really feel seen and heard, which is fantastic. The children also have fun participating in practical skills, like bringing an empty lunch box for them to eat their lunch out of to practise their school readiness skills.

A big shout out to all of the educators she had that treated the children with kindness, respect and a whole lotta love and made the effort the include their interests in the curriculum and made our darling girl feel so special; especially Jess, Smita and Abigayle (she's amazing!).

Thank you for caring for our daughter from when she started as a 2 year old in the Toddler Two room to graduating as a big girl from 4 year old Kinder. I would definitely recommend this centre to anyone looking for a quality childcare in the eastern suburbs. It wasn't the closest one to us, but it was definitely worth the drive!

Highly recommend Guardian Blackburn South. Both of my children have been in this Childcare since they were little. The environment is quite good and the facilities are always in good condition. Most importantly, the Educators such as Sal, Ada, Carmen , Ghaz and also other educators are warm hearted and super supportive all the time. They do care about the children from bottom of heart. My babies love them. Parents who are looking for a proper childcare don’t hesitate to join them.

Our daughters both attended Guardian Childcare in Blackburn South and our experience was really positive. The educators are kind, caring, fun, thoughtful and brilliant at their jobs. We couldn’t be happier with Blackburn south Guardian childcare. From the moment we walked through the doors, we felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The team at guardian childcare Blackburn south are fantastic! As a family, you feel part of the community and everyone on the team is there to support you as a family as well as one another in creating a great environment for the kids. The educators are caring, supportive and focused on being attentive to each kid’s needs. They are great at sharing and communicating with the families as an extension of the support and development for the kids. They are proactive in suggesting development areas for each kid and considered in the activities, incursions and excursions they develop for the kids to continue to help with their growth. Our son has been attending this daycare for over 2 years and we are so happy with our decision to move him here! All of his educators over the years are so genuinely caring and are interested in his development. He eats better here than he does at home, and does more fun and educational activities than he would with me. My two kids attended here until we moved homes. The educators have all been lovely and always doing something fun with the kids. Guardian Blackburn south is such a wonderful childcare facility. It feels so warm and welcoming like a home rather than a centre but also with such professionalism, energy and inspiration from the amazing staff. They are extremely nurturing and compassionate. My daughter joined in October and we have been nothing but impressed by the outstanding care our little girl has recieved. We feel reassured that our child is at a place where they will be safe, happy, cared for and will be enriched by a variety of both creative and structured learning. Their attention to detail is outstanding. I personally thank all the educators and the centre manager for putting in all their best possible efforts and supporting us!!!

All the staff is very friendly and caring. The children look happy and comfortable there. We receive regular quality information about the children’s day and they really make an effort to include the child’s interest into their program. The activities are varied, fun and educational.

We've been attending since October 2020 and in particular, we're very happy with the continuity of care that our kids receive. With our families overseas, it's important to us that they know and develop good relationships with their educators and aren't trying to get to know new ones every few weeks. Compared to a previous centre, there's been very few staff changes and many of the staff have been there since we first joined. A new manager in the past few months has also led to better communication with families and efforts to create more of a community for the centre - which wasn't possible during Covid.

The centre management and her room educators have changed over time, but the culture of learning and having fun remains. The kids are looked after really well! My kids have been at guardian almost since it opened, and have had wonderful classroom experiences. Lately one of my kids has had some emotional issues, and her educators have been absolutely wonderful in talking and working with me to address what's going on, and help her. She has needed (and received) some extra attention and care, and I couldn't be more appreciative. I feel my daughter is genuinely cared about, which is my primary want in a childcare.

Our son has been attending Guardian Blackburn South since he was 7 months of age. He’s now 2 years old and we have no intention of leaving! The staff are truly phenomenal. I’ve always been confident in the care they have given to our boy - in fact I think they do a better of job of raising him than us! The children are always doing fun activities tailored to their development levels that we simply wouldn’t do at home - either because they’re too messy or we just aren’t creative enough to come up with it! And the meals are 5 star. The children eat better than we do at home - I feel guilty when the weekend comes and I serve up jam sandwiches or something equally boring out of a packet for his lunch. The staff recognise changes in his behaviour and work with us to help weather the storm. They also work with the kids on life skills like cleaning up after themselves. Most importantly, our son really loves his time there and comes home happy every day.

Guardian Blackburn south always goes above and beyond every day. From day one our daughter loved going to Guardian and loved her teachers,felt very comfortable and made lots of friends.The staff, the teachers are loving and caring and always attentive to the child's and the parents needs. Rhythm of the Day

We know children and families like routine, so you will always receive a warm welcome each morning and an invitation to stay for breakfast. At the end of the day, a smooth transition is assured with your child’s belongings ready for you after a day that fulfils your child's interests and curiosity. In between, the day is filled with new and exciting experiences to engage young minds as part of their early childhood education. Here’s a glimpse of what a day of play-based learning at our childcare centre often looks like.

Morning

Breakfast time provides a great chance for you to share what is important and how your baby’s night at home was.

Mid-Morning

Your baby will enjoy engaging in both our indoor and outdoor nursery environments with planned experiences like songs and story time, followed by morning tea.

Middle of the Day

Your baby’s lunch times will suit their needs, and with our open-door policy, families are welcome to enjoy lunch/bottle time with your baby. When your baby is ready, they are gently settled for sleep and rest.

Mid-Afternoon

Our planned indoor and outdoor nursery experiences continue with the chance for movement, games and more books and songs, with an afternoon snack provided.

End of Day

The Nursery team are eager to share information about your baby’s day and their learning, preparing you and your baby for a smooth transition to your evening.

What we do to keep children safe

Create Safe Spaces & Practices

  • Nappy change areas are designed to have visibility windows and are set up for maximum supervision
  • Our policies also cater for team members being in sight or sound of another team member at all times.
  • Safety embedded in daily programs – by conducting daily checklists, comprehensive risk assessments, and more
  • personal phones or devices are not allowed in learning spaces.

Safe People Who Follow Safe Policies

  • Working With Children Checks for all team members. Automatic alerts if a WWCC is revoked and team member not eligible for shifts
  • Rigorous reference checks – must provide previous line managers for their past roles
  • Annual compulsory Suitability Declarations to confirm ongoing fitness to work with children
  • Mandatory reporting and speaking up – report concerns immediately and all concerns will be investigated fully
  • Ongoing mandatory training in child safety, including annual refreshers and leadership-specific modules

Daily Fee Information

Daily Rates

Our daily rates are all inclusive and have no additional charges for incursions / excursions or any of our learning programs. The rates shown are an estimate based on using Childcare Subsidy (CCS) subsidised hours. The CCS helps lower your out-of-pocket costs, with subsidy rates dependant on your individual family eligibility levels.

The Victorian Government offers funding to provide families up to 15 hours of Free Kindergarten a week, in addition to the Childcare Subsidy. The funding offsets the fees for three and four-year-old children that are part of the centre’s long day care Kindergarten program. Families will save up to $2,101 a year for children aged three-years-old and above in eligible long day cares in 2025. Ask for more details when you tour the centre.

Great communication is vital in our collaborative partnerships with families at the Centre. We have a variety of different ways we communicate with you about your child’s learning and progress:


  1. Storypark app - Stay connected to your child's day with regular updates, including photos and learning insights

  2. Pick-up and drop-off updates – Our Educators will share highlights from their day, including experiences they enjoyed, mealtimes, and naps to support your evening routine.

  3. In-room learning exchange displays make our weekly learning plans easy to see so you know what your child will be learning.

  4. Centre Newsletters – Great for community connection and wider Centre and team updates.

  5. Development documentation and meetings for your individual child’s progress.

Kindergarten Program
Flying start to school

Our Flying Start to School kindergarten program is lead by degree qualified Teachers in a long day care setting. Our specialist two-year program is committed to supporting your child as they prepare for big school. We focus on nurturing their confidence, making friends and social emotional growth while also supporting their abilities in reading, writing, counting, and thinking skills. Whether it’s building with blocks, practicing their first letters, or learning to share with friends, every experience is carefully designed to support your child’s development.

Our Centre is a recipient of funding as part of the VIC Government’s Free Kinder Program. Eligible children aged three years and above will receive up to $2101 in additional subsidies to reduce your out-of-pocket fees. Ask for more details when you tour the centre.

Out and about

Through excursions, children are supported to expand their world, to get to know their community, and have a sense of belonging. Their learning thrives when they feel safe, welcome, and that they belong.

Cooking

Cooking experiences teach numeracy by counting ingredients, and weighing and measuring quantities and volume, while managing these tasks supports independence and confidence.
