Welcome to our Centre

Guardian Childcare & Education Lilyfield, formerly Billy Kids, is located a short drive from the Sydney Inner-West suburbs of Leichhardt, Haberfield, Rozelle and Forest Lodge. The Child Care Centre is an excellent option for local families wanting high-quality childcare close to home or on the way to the CBD for work.

Our Lilyfield long day care centre offers:

  • Highly experienced Educators and degree-qualified Teachers
  • Bright, vibrant learning spaces full of resources designed to inspire
  • Extensive outdoor space for children to explore
  • On-site Chef providing fresh snacks and meals daily
  • Nappies, SPF 50+ sunscreen, high-quality formula and bed linen provided
  • Extended hours of care each weekday from 7.30am to 6.30pm

Our Lilyfield child care centre is rated exceeding in the National Quality Standard and boasts a range of exciting, resource-rich environments. Childcare Lilyfield offers endless possibilities, starting in our three spacious outdoor spaces, complete with a water pump, a rock-climbing wall, hills and alfresco dining areas – children are encouraged to explore and learn.

Guardian Childcare & Education Lilyfield offers quality care in a light-filled Centre that is both modern yet homely and is home to lots of native trees and bamboo, vegetable gardens and a range of age-specific studios where our programs come to life – including a leading Preschool Program for those aged from three and up.

The NSW Government offers funding to provide families at our Centre fee relief of up to $2174 per child aged three and above, and up to $515 per year for children aged three. This support is in addition to the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and can help to lower your out-of-pocket fees.

As a way to stay connected to families, families will have access to our family communication app StoryPark. Here, we will share with you any significant updates on your child’s day today, as well as any other important updates that happen in the Centre.

We value the role of families as a child’s first teacher and we’re committed to developing trusting relationships by listening and responding to families about all aspects of their child’s learning and development. So, our approach is focused on the latest research and insights into how children learn best, and the specific skills they will need to thrive.

With this in mind, we understand that families want to be connected to what their children are learning at Guardian Childcare Lilyfield (formerly Billy Kids Lilyfield). As part of our unique Visible Learning Program, families are able to track and keep up to date with the progress of their child’s learning via the Learning Exchange Display – found directly near the front of the Centre. Here, our Teachers and Educators will share with you any significant updates on your child’s development, your child’s education and provide the chance for you to share your own goals and visions – providing direct input into your child’s educational journey!

Our on-site cooks prepare five nutritionally balanced meals using seasonal ingredients every day. To further explore food at the Centre, our Guardian Lilyfield Educators host hands-on cooking classes for the children to expand their understanding of good nutrition and to encourage them to try new foods.

Begin the adventure at Guardian Lilyfield today by booking a tour or speaking to one of our team. We are here to answer any questions you might have for us or about Childcare in the Lilyfield area.

We’re Exceeding! What does that mean? Every six months, our Centres are assessed by ACECQA, the national body with the responsibility for monitoring the quality of all registered child care centres in Australia. A rating of Exceeding National Quality Standard means that you can be assured that this Centre is providing an exceptional level of care and attention for your child.

We’ve had an amazing experience with Guardian so far. From the duckling to now the butterfly room. Our educators and carers have offered nothing but exceptional care to our little one every step of the way.Their facilities are clean, tidy, foods are nutritious and they always strive to improve seeking feedback where applicable. We love sending our little one to the butterfly room as we’ve seen noticeable changes in their development as they teach, support the growth of our child and reinforce day in day out with fun activities. We would like to thank the guardian team (butterfly room) for the development of our child providing such a safe, supportive learning environment.

My daughter has made great friends in both the children and educations in the Butterfly room at Guardian Lilyfield. The centre and facilities are great and the educators are so kind and caring! They always take the time to update me on my daughters day at pick up and have helped make our transition from the UK a lot easier. I look forward to our second daughter attending in 2023.

We've had both of our kids go to Guardian Lilyfield and couldn't be happier. The educators are amazing, they truly care about the children and their development. Many of them have been there for years, which makes it special when you have siblings being taught by the same educators over the years. Also love the big outdoor spaces for the children, as well as the easy parking for drop offs - both a rarity in the inner west.

The educators are wonderful people. They have looked after our kids for 3 years now, and have helped them grow and develop through such important stages of life. Their supportive, gentle, caring and calm team helped both my son and daughter when they began childcare. The teachers are the reason we are so passionate about this centre and really make it feel like a community.

The centre has an excellent curriculum and program for babies to pre-schoolers. The educators in particular have been excellent in looking after Gabby and the rest of the kids in the Sunflowers room and have been instrumental in his growth. I could not ask for more in the care they provide.

We moved postcodes at the start of the year which meant having to find a new Daycare - a stressful experience. But Guardian compared to the others in the area were so accomodating and helpful. We couldn’t be more happier with our experience there. Our daughter has been going to Guardian for 10 months now, and she’s developed so many skills, and comes home full of tales about her day and the friends she’s played with. Thank you Guardian Lilyfield, we appreciate you.

Guardian Lilyfield has been my second home and also for my children . I’ve been here for the last 11 working years and I feel supported by my coworkers as they nurture and teach the best things to our children. They look forward to going to day care everyday and this makes us feel that they are well looked after and cared for. The centre has been well managed by our director and she does her work to fully support families and the rest of the community.

This is an amazing centre where you feel welcomed as soon as you step inside the front door. When I first came into the centre I felt it was very warm and inviting and they had great set ups in each play space. My daughter loves going here and we love watching how supported and nurtured she is by all the wonderful educators at the centre. We have been going to this centre for many years and we cannot wait to send our son too as we know both of our children will be well looked after and supported in their education and development.

Rhythm of the Day

We know children (and families) like routine. Whilst no two days of learning are ever the same - here's what a day at Guardian might look like.

Whilst no two days of learning are ever the same - here's what a day at Guardian might look like.

Handover time with children, families and our friendly Educators. There's a chance for conversation to share what's important for the day/what's happened the night before at home.

Breakfast time where families are welcome to stay and enjoy breakfast with the children.

As children are arriving and families are coming and going, there's an opportunity for play as well as family grouping, open-plan play and multi-age grouping.

There's an opportunity for children to come together and enjoy morning tea.

Following morning tea, the planned experiences continue. This includes both indoor and outdoor programs.

There's an opportunity for children to come together for lunch. With an open-door policy, families are able to join the centre for meals and excursion if they wish.

For children who want to, or need to, there's an opportunity to sleep, rest or relax. For children who don't need to rest, there are planned experiences, which are more likely to be outdoors.

Children come together for afternoon tea in small groups or with siblings (they can also rest and play together, too). This time also presents an opportunity to reflect on the day.

As families arrive to pick up children, there's an opportunity to speak to Educators and share information about the day.

Some centres offer early tea or light snack at the end of the day, which they can grab as they leave the centre. We’re mindful of how routines vary at home, so if throughout the day, we notice children look tired, food will be provided.

Lilyfield Centre Manager Image

Diki and team

Our Centre team, led by our experienced Centre Manager Diki, prides themselves on creating a great sense of community for all families.

Each role in the Centre is designed to work together to help create a nurturing environment for every child in each of our learning spaces.

In our Nursery Room, the dedicated team has a special role in creating secure attachments, routines, and strong relationships. Unique to Guardian nurseries is our Baby Ambassador, who is your go-to person for you and your baby’s first 12 months with us. They will know every detail about your baby: how breast or bottle milk is managed, how they like to eat, their sleeping routines, the nappies they wear, and more. With babies as young as six weeks in the Centre, it’s the Baby Ambassador’s job to work with families and Educators to help make our Nursery feel just like home.

Our Educators across the age groups work together to create fun, stimulating, and age-appropriate experiences for every child in their care. They are dedicated, experienced professionals who are allocated to a specific room so they can get to know each child individually and support their learning and development.

As part of our 2-year Flying Start to School program, we have degree-qualified Teachers who use the latest teaching practices to help your child build essential practical and social skills, ensuring they’re ready for their next big adventure—school!

Each room has a Lead Educator or Teacher who is responsible for planning and implementing an effective ongoing cycle of planning, documentation, and evaluation of the room’s learning program.

At the core of the Centre is our Cook—make sure you check out their daily menu when you visit. They help make food part of the learning journey and love seeing how children respond to new and exciting flavours.

The team is supported by a strong Leadership Team, including an Assistant Centre Manager and an Educational Leader.

Every role at the Centre is as important as the next.

How will you share updates about my child’s day?

Great communication is vital in our collaborative partnerships with families at the Centre. We have a variety of different ways we communicate with you about your child’s learning and progress:

  1. Storypark app - Stay connected to your child's day with regular updates, including photos and learning insights

  2. Pick-up and drop-off updates – Our Educators will share highlights from their day, including experiences they enjoyed, mealtimes, and naps to support your evening routine.

  3. In-room learning exchange displays make our weekly learning plans easy to see so you know what your child will be learning.

  4. Centre Newsletters – Great for community connection and wider Centre and team updates.

  5. Development documentation and meetings for your individual child’s progress.

But remember our door is always open.
