Excursions at Guardian

Learning Beyond the Centre

Excursions open the door for children to connect with the world beyond their centre, safely guided by our amazing team of educators. Whether it’s a walk to the local park, a visit to the library, or exploring neighbourhood landmarks, our teams bring each experience to life in meaningful, real-world ways. With their support, children have the opportunity to practice important skills such as road safety and co-operation, while also building confidence in new environments.

As part of our bespoke To BE Me learning program, our Out and About excursion program supports children to discover new things, develop independence, and build connections in different ways than within the centre. These excursions allow children to follow their interests, ask questions, and engage with the world around them, laying the foundations for curiosity and lifelong learning.

Building Community and Connection

Beyond encouraging curiosity and investigation, excursions ‘out and about’ support children to build a sense of belonging. They create opportunities to engage with their community, strengthen friendships, and see themselves as active participants in the world around them. Each excursion is carefully planned to support children’s social, emotional and cognitive growth, while celebrating individuality and creativity.

Our Local School Program is a key part of our Being Me’ program for 4 year-olds, part of our two-year  Flying Start to School preschool and kindergarten journey for children aged 3-5. By planning excursions to visit nearby schools, children begin to familiarise themselves with new learning environments, meet teachers and principals, and start to understand the rhythms of school life. This helps to ease the transition to formal schooling, giving children greater confidence and a strong sense of feeling ready for the next step in their learning journey.

Exploring the World Around Us

At Guardian, many of our centres organise excursions regularly as part of our To BE Me learning program, giving children the chance to broaden their horizons and make everyday discoveries. You may have even spotted one of our bright and cheerful Octoprams out and about – a wonderful way for our youngest explorers to safely get to know their local community together.
