Working as a part time Chef at Guardian Brunswick puts you at the centre of supporting the care and education of young children. Your food will support how they learn about colour, smell, taste, touch, and experience the wonders of food. We are looking for a passionate Chef to create scrumptious and nutritious meals for our wonderful little people. Starting off at 25 hours per week and increasing over time as occupancy grows.
You will be creating menus full of delicious and nutritious snacks and meals for children and their Educators, as well as being part of the learning experience when they help you prepare food, forage from the garden and learn about what they’re eating. It all comes together at mealtimes where children and Teams share food together, enjoying each other’s company and learning how nothing brings people together like great food.

The Centre
Our centre in Brunswick includes a range of exciting, resource-rich environments – including four soon-to-be-renovated outdoor spaces – where our exciting programs come to life. With easy access to public transport and street parking, the spacious centre also has a tinker lab, an indoor/outdoor classroom, mud pits, shady trees, wooden decking, and a range of age-specific ateliers.
The Opportunity
- Develop a seasonal, nutritious menu that respects individual requirements regarding medical conditions, food preferences, and cultural considerations and ensures children’s health and wellbeing
- Ensure children’s health and wellbeing
- Building strong relationships with the children, Educators, families and the Centre community
- Ensure best practice food safety and hygienic standards are always upheld.

To be considered, you will have:
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate or Food Handling
- An awareness of your personal responsibilities under the current Child Protection Laws
- Current Working with Children’s Check VIC state employee card – or willing to apply for one
