Choosing the Right People: How We Recruit to Keep Children Safe

At Guardian, your child’s safety and well-being come first—always. We understand that choosing the right early learning centre is a big decision for families. That’s why we have strict recruitment and vetting processes in place to ensure every child in our care grows, learns, and plays in a safe and supportive environment.

What Makes Guardian a Child Safe Organisation?

Guardian proudly complies with the National Child Safe Standards and all state-specific regulations, setting a high bar for excellence and safety in early childhood education. Being a Child Safe Organisation isn’t just something we say—it’s something each team members lives by every day.

Zero-Tolerance Policy: Because Every Child Deserves Protection

We hold a simple, non-negotiable belief: there is zero tolerance for any behaviour that could put a child at risk. If we see or hear of anything that concerns us—even something small—we act quickly and thoroughly. Our teams are reminded of our commitment to child safety regularly in both video and written communication, reinforcing that everyone at Guardian shares responsibility for children’s well-being.

How Do We Keep Children Safe? Our Recruitment Measures Explained

Families should feel reassured knowing that only the most qualified and trustworthy people are allowed to care for children in our childcare centres. Here are the steps we take:

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC): Every team member must have a valid, government-approved Working with Children Check before working in any of our centres. If an educator’s WWCC is not current, our rostering system automatically blocks them from being scheduled to work for us in any centre —that’s how seriously we take this requirement.
  • Rigorous Reference Checks: Before anyone joins our team, we conduct thorough reference and background checks, making sure that educators not only have the right qualifications and values, but a proven history of prioritising children’s safety and wellbeing.
  • Centralised Compliance Monitoring: We maintain a central electronic database to track all WWCCs and Police Checks, ensuring credentials are always up to date and no detail is overlooked.

Why These Steps Matter to Your Family

Simply put, your child deserves the very best start in life, in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and filled with positive role models. These careful recruitment measures help us select and keep the right people – those who are passionate about early education and committed to children’s safety as the highest priority.

By fostering trust, transparency, and accountability in everything we do, Guardian provides families with the confidence that their children are in capable, caring hands. You get to focus on your child’s journey—watching them make friends, gain new skills, and embrace their curiosity—while we prioritise their security behind the scenes.
