Keeping Children Safe at Guardian

At Guardian, nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care. with child safety deeply embedded in everything we do—from our leadership and culture to our daily practices in each centre.

We believe every child has the right to feel safe, supported, and heard. That’s why we’ve built a strong, transparent culture where safety isn’t just a priority; it’s the core of who we are. Each of our team members are trained and expected to uphold the highest standards of care, and we act immediately on any concerns raised.

We are especially committed to ensuring that all children, including those from vulnerable or diverse backgrounds, feel respected, included, and empowered. Children thrive when they feel safe and connected – and at Guardian, that’s exactly the environment we work to create every day.

At Guardian:

  • We have zero tolerance for any form of child abuse or neglect. The safety of children in our care will never be compromised.
  • Every team member must hold a valid, government approved Working with Children Check. This is designed specifically to determine a person’s suitability to work with children, and very importantly includes ongoing monitoring.
  • All team members are mandatory reporters and must raise any concerns immediately through their manager or internal channels. Reports are escalated to authorities as required.
  • Our Whistleblower Policy offers a confidential and anonymous way for team members to report any inappropriate behaviour or concerns.
  • All concerns and allegations are taken seriously. We follow a clear, consistent process guided by our policies and child protection laws to ensure every response is thorough and fair.
  • We ensure all team members and volunteers receive ongoing supervision, support, and mandatory child protection training to maintain the highest standards of care and safeguard every child from harm.
  • Our dedicated Safety and Compliance teams play a key role in safeguarding children by continuously auditing, monitoring, and enhancing our safety practices across all centres.
  • We exceed required centre supervision ratios 90% of the time; for the remaining 10%, we meet the regulations.
  • We are committed to creating safe, supportive environments where children feel heard, valued, and confident to express themselves.
