What started as a seed of an idea has now bloomed into a thriving community garden at Warrandyte Road Early Learning Centre. Several years ago, Centre Manager Janene Melchior had a plan to start a community garden at the front of their Doncaster East centre.
Janene says, “The plan was not very clear at the start, I just knew I wanted something closer to our kitchen. A place more for herbs and smaller veggies. I knew that I wanted not just our kitchen and children to use and attend the garden but families and the wider community; perhaps beginning with trips to our neighbours with home grown herbs and or seeds and then hopefully the word spreading that people could come and take, plant, offer advice, help and more.” Read more
To say that Rosemary Green is an institution at East Ivanhoe Early Learning Centre would be an understatement. Having been an educator at this Melbourne early learning centre for 12 years, Rosemary has been a part of the development and care of hundreds of children. Recently, at our Victorian Educator Awards night, Rosemary was one of the recipients of our Educator of the Year award – a very well-deserved accolade!

Tree House St Kilda has been omming their way to more zen place with regular yoga sessions at the centre. Centre Manager Kate Wallman says the idea came about through the interest of a few educators who were practicing yoga in their own time. Since launching at the centre in 2016, the yoga sessions have been hugely popular with both children and educators. Each yoga session goes for around 20 – 30 minutes and 30 – 45 minutes for the children in the Kinder room. Read more
