Her team have cultivated an environment where ‘each culture is acknowledged, celebrated and respected; from celebration of festivals to accommodating cultural customs’. Educators speak many languages including English, Russian, Hebrew, Hindu and Mandarin this greatly assists the families. Guardian Childcare & Early Learning – Bentleigh East also make it a priority to observe the dietary requirements and preferences of cultures represented in their community including; vegetarian, kosher-respectable, gluten free, dairy free, egg-free at no additional charge to the families.

Children’s connection to their culture develops through their experiences. Having a strong sense of their own cultural heritage and the traditions associated with it helps children build a positive cultural identity for themselves. This also supports children’s sense of belonging and, by extension, their mental health and wellbeing.
