Children at The Pavilion Early Learning Centre have open access to bright, custom-designed spaces, structures and experiences with plenty of room for growing, inquisitive and energetic bodies to play, relax or quietly explore.

We invite you to tour our centre to learn more about our high-quality curriculum and reggio-inspired early learning environments.

Learn More About Our Centre

The Pavilion Early Learning Centre is located in the centre of Martin Place, 100 metres from Martin Place Station. We enjoy views of nearby Sydney Tower from our outdoor space, which is an open-air environment.

Our smaller size means we offer a wonderful family atmosphere, and can create strong bonds with each and every child and their family. We aim to create an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming, where children receive the best quality care and education. We love seeing our children excited to return each day!

We believe in fostering autonomy in the children, and allow them to choose activities that best suit their own unique interests. We aim to develop independent, capable young learners with a strong sense of enthusiasm and curiosity to explore the world around them.

We love taking the children on exciting excursions in the area, like boarding fire trucks at the local station or spotting dinosaurs at the Australian Museum. They also visit a nearby florist to collect fresh flowers each week. Back in our centre, they love caring for our indoor herb and fruit garden, and collecting items for use in their meals.

Whether you are a new or existing family in our service, our educators will spend quality time with you to help build a strong level of trust, and to understand how we can best support the unique needs of your child.

Meet our Centre Manager

Hello, my name is Helene Skarparis and I’m excited to be reopening the beautifully refurbished Pavilion Early Learning Centre as the Centre Director.

I began my journey in Early Years Education in 2008 studying a Bachelor Degree in Primary Education. After completing my practicum studies in a Pre-school setting, I found my passion for Early Years Education and went on to complete my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. I have since spent a number of years working abroad in London; expanding my knowledge, perspectives and educational style, as I worked with some truly remarkable children from very diverse global backgrounds. This was an incredible experience, both personally and professionally and something I will cherish with me forever.

My beliefs align strongly with the Reggio Emilia approach, viewing children as curious, capable and knowledgeable learners. I believe in respecting each child’s rights by empowering them to make choices throughout their day and ensuring they have access to all the information available to them to make informative decisions. Our environments pose as the third educator, offering children open-ended experiences to explore their imaginations, creativity and to challenge their thinking as they problem solve, explore, invent and discover. We embed intentional teaching practices along with establishing meaningful educator and family relationships to support and scaffold each child’s learning journey.

I am inspired by the way children view the world and love their inquisitive nature as they wonder, investigate and make new discoveries through their play and through their interactions with others.  I believe that strong partnerships with families and Educators set the tone for a child’s positive learning attitude for life.

When I’m not at the service you can find me spending quality time with my big Greek family or enjoying a relaxed meal with friends.

I look forward to building relationships with all of our families as we grow our Pavilion ELC family together and continue to establish partnerships with our wider community.
