Would you like to use your skills and experience in food preparation and kitchen support, knowing that you’re helping young children learn, grow, and thrive? Working as a Kitchen Hand at Guardian Taringa puts you at the heart of supporting the care and education of children through healthy meals, clean environments, and positive mealtime experiences.

You will support the day-to-day kitchen operations by preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, washing dishes, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are upheld at all times. Every meal you help prepare supports children as they learn about colour, smell, taste, touch, and experience the joy of food together.

When you join Guardian, you’ll be contributing to a team effort to create meaningful learning experiences for children in a safe and secure environment. You’ll work closely with Educators and the Centre team to support children’s wellbeing and daily routines, while enjoying a supportive workplace with opportunities to grow your skills and career.

The Opportunity

  • Support the preparation and serving of nutritious meals and snacks
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
  • Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, stock rotation, and kitchen organisation
  • Support children’s health and wellbeing through safe food handling practices
  • Build positive relationships with children, Educators, families, and the Centre community
  • Ensure all food safety and hygienic standards are consistently upheld

To be considered, you will have:

  • Previous kitchen, hospitality, or food preparation experience (preferred)
  • An understanding of safe food handling and hygiene practices
  • An awareness of your personal responsibilities under current Child Protection Laws
  • Current Working with Children Check or state-specific equivalent
