Flexible childcare and early learning that fits real family life

Every family’s routine looks a little different – and often, it changes from week to week. Between work, study, commuting, appointments and the unexpected moments that pop up along the way, many families are looking for childcare and early learning that can adapt alongside them.

At Guardian Childcare, flexibility is thoughtfully built into the everyday experience for families. From our centres offering long opening hours and casual day options, to holiday discounts and support when routines shift, our approach is designed to make life a little easier for busy parents and carers — while still giving children the consistency and quality early learning they need to thrive.

Guardian Chief Operating Officer Martin Knell knows that families today are looking for more than a standard childcare offering.

“We know family life isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our role is to support families with flexible options that help them manage work, study and everyday life – while knowing their child is safe, nurtured and engaged in a high-quality learning environment.”

Flexible enrolment options to suit your family

Families at Guardian can enrol from one to five days per week, depending on what works best for their household.

While many families choose two or more days to support consistency and routine, we understand that every family’s needs are different – and flexibility matters.

“We recommend a regular rhythm where possible because children benefit from consistency and connection,” says Martin. “But we also know work patterns and family circumstances can change, and we work closely with families when they need additional support or flexibility.”

Support when plans change

Many of our centres offer casual day availability for families who need an extra day from time to time; whether it’s for a work commitment, appointment or unexpected change in routine.

Our centres also offer extended opening hours, with many open for up to 12 hours a day, helping families manage travel time, early starts and late finishes.

Understanding Child Care Subsidy and fees

Navigating childcare fees and government subsidies can sometimes feel overwhelming for families, particularly when enrolling for the first time.

Our Centre Managers work closely with families to provide personalised fee estimates and explain how the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) applies to their situation, helping families understand their expected out-of-pocket costs before enrolment.

We want families to feel informed and supported from the beginning – transparency matters, especially when families are making important decisions about care and early learning.

Flexibility for holidays and planned absences

We also offer practical options to support families during holidays and planned absences.

Depending on attendance patterns, families may be eligible for holiday discounts throughout the year, along with free swap days when regular attendance falls on a public holiday.

These options are designed to help families maintain flexibility while still securing their child’s ongoing place within their centre community.

A connected network of centres across Australia

For families relocating or moving suburbs, our national network of centres can also provide continuity and familiarity.

With centres located across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and the ACT, as well as regional areas, families can expect the same commitment to safe environments, incredible teams and high-quality early learning across our network.

While every centre reflects its local community, all Guardian centres are guided by the same high standards and age-and-stage approach to learning.
