Guardian Childcare & Education Blackburn North offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with an exciting outdoor program with a learning environment that has dedicated spaces for different ages. Children under two have access to a cosy yard with a sheltered verandah and AstroTurf where learning opportunities are planned and set up based on the children’s interests.
The toddler space includes a large sandpit and cubby house, with easels fixed on the fence for children to use in various creative ways. It also has a large hanging tree which provides plenty of shade during summer. Children have access to a large space complete with climbing and obstacle equipment to continuously challenge children’s growing skills and abilities. There is also a cubby house and a mud kitchen where children enjoy experimenting and creating.
At our early learning centre, all children have access to our unique ‘Secret Garden’, a fenced-off space at the back of the centre that is filled with large trees and plants, a big sandpit and dirt pit, gazebo, and a fruit and vegetable patch created by the kindergarten children. They love picking different products from this space to include in their lunch. Our qualified cook prepares fresh and nutritious meals on-site each day.
Our friendly and highly qualified Educators are approachable, knowledgeable and passionate about each and every child, providing high-quality early education and care. They go out of their way to create strong and trusting relationships with families so that all children and families feel confident and supported within our educational environment and connected with the local community.
Early education at Guardian Early Education & Childcare starts early. Children are capable of communication and learning at every age. A child does not reach the age of four or five and becomes magically ready for school. They are learning from the very moment they enter this world – and our team of Educators and Teachers understand what that learning looks like every step of the way.
Each learning program is designed by experienced Educators and Teachers to support children in each age group to develop social and emotional skills, along with literacy, numeracy and problem-solving ability that prepares them for a life of learning. Children learn through play, in their own way, in a nurturing environment. Our learning programs are aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standards, and the Australian School Curriculum.
For children aged three and four years, we have an amazing kindergarten program that runs with our long day care to help prepare them for their upcoming transitions into formal schooling. Our three-year-old kindergarten program emphasises developing some of the social and communication skills that the children will use as they gain more self-confidence and independence. We encourage development in these areas through group play and some slightly more structured activities where they explore and discover the world.
In four-year-old kindergarten, children further develop their communication, social and emotional skills, and they also begin exploring some numbers, shapes and phonics. We encourage children to practice reading simple sounds and words on their own, and we empower them through the learning process that comes with this. Through developing skills in these areas, children can feel more ready and confident as they begin their first year of school.
We develop each child’s literacy and numeracy skills to help them feel confident and prepared during the challenging leap to school. Our program supports the needs and routines of each of our families, and we ensure each child’s cultural background is supported and encouraged.
As part of our unique Visible Learning Program, families will be able to gain an understanding of their child’s education. Our Learning Exchange Display will provide the opportunity for our Teachers and Educators to share updates on your child’s progress. It will also be a chance for you to have direct input into your child’s learning!
We’re committed to children’s nutrition, and our on-site cook prepares each meal fresh and packed with all the nutrients that children need at their age. We encourage children to engage in food preparation and to ask questions about where their food comes from, why it’s good for them, and how they can eat it. We also encourage exploration of the cultural heritage behind different foods, helping promote diversity and inclusion from an early age.
Sustainability is another focus at our Centre, and we empower children to develop an understanding of recycling and other sustainable practices while developing a genuine passion and care for looking after our planet. Our Out & About program encourages children to spend more time playing outdoors in the fresh air and natural sunlight. We have a beautiful, spacious outdoor environment for the children to explore and practice engaging their imaginations and creativity.
Why not come and meet the team and have a look around our Centre today? We’d love to show you why Guardian Blackburn North is the perfect environment for your child. At Guardian, we believe that together, we can create life-long learners who reach their full potential.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
