About Guardian’s Transformation & Business Improvement Office
Guardian’s Transformation & Business Improvement Office is responsible for project managing the delivery of strategic initiatives, improving operational efficiency, and supporting business growth. Led by the Head of Transformation, the team manages the PMO, provides project management for priority initiatives, facilitates problem-solving workshops, and develops scalable solutions that impact both the Support Office and Guardian’s network of centres.
The Role
The Business Improvement Consultant has two critical priorities – firstly, supporting leadership team members to successfully project manage and deliver outcomes for their priority projects. Secondly, to support problem solving and solution development for complex challenges. This person is also responsible to communicate in a style and language that resonates with our childcare leaders and carers.
Please note: This role will not have any direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Leadership Support
- Partner with leadership team members to define and deliver their priority projects.
- Provide insights from relevant data and translate this into sound solutions.
- Project management: Manage an initiative end-to-end, develop structured workplans, manage project timelines, ensure delivery of outcomes.
- Provide assurance on project milestones, escalating issues where necessary to maintain momentum.
Problem-Solving & Solution Development
- Participate in structured problem-solving workshops to diagnose challenges, develop recommendations and design practical solutions.
- Design, test, and refine scalable solutions that improve operations across the centre network and support office, with support from the Head of Transformation.
- Ensure solutions are user-centric by deeply understanding the needs and workflows of Guardian’s frontline employees.
- Work collaboratively across departments to drive adoption and implementation of solutions.
Knowledge Management & Communication
- Become proficient in publishing and maintaining content on Guardian’s knowledge management system, The Guardian Way.
- Document and communicate key learnings, ensuring knowledge is effectively shared and leveraged across the organisation.
- Develop clear communications to our frontline team members in a language that resonates with them.
Execution & Follow-Through
- Be recognised as a ‘doer’ who takes ownership and ensures work is completed effectively.
- Drive accountability and follow-through on initiatives, maintaining focus on outcomes.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.
What we are looking for
Skills:
- Project management
- Structured and logical problem solving
- Outcomes focus

- Clear communication to frontline employees as well as senior managers
- Build trusted working relationships
- Early Childhood sector experience or similar (desirable)
Experience:
- 3-5 years in a Service Business, or consulting, in a project delivery or solution design role
- Structured project delivery in dynamic, people-focused environments
- Demonstrated ability to develop solutions that work and resonate with users
- Sector experience in service delivery
- Experience in strategy or management consulting a plus
Work Environment & Flexibility
- The role offers significant flexibility, with a hybrid work arrangement.
- Location: Sydney
- Requires 1-2 days per week in the office, with the remainder of the time working remotely.
