Position Overview:
Reporting to our Head of Payroll, the Payroll Manager is responsible for managing payroll, providing team management, support and training to the payroll team, managing the Employee enquiry facility and ensuring all statutory reporting and management reporting obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll processing
- Ensure payrolls are processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner
- Direct contact for payroll support for our new acquisition and greenfield centres
- Prepare STP, payroll account journals, PAYG and financial reports and provide information to finance team
- Prepare and process adhoc payroll runs as required
- Support payroll team in Investigating and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
- Support payroll team with an escalation point for employee enquiries and information requests
- Team Management including Support and training
- Manage the payroll team to ensure all deliverables of the payroll function are met
- Provide support to payroll team for payroll regulation requirements and internal payroll procedures
- Provide the payroll team regular internal training opportunities on new and existing processes
- Statutory Requirements and Superannuation
- Manage and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including:
- Weekly Workcover and Paid Parental Leave processes
- Monthly PAYG reporting for BAS
- Monthly Superannuation preparation and payments
- Monthly payroll tax reporting and remittance by state
- Reports for ABS surveys ACT LSL lodgments and other government requested reporting
- Year-end processes
- Assisting with yearly audit requests for supporting documentation as require.
- Provide necessary weekly and monthly payroll reports and data to relevant internal departments
- Maintenance and Administration
- Maintain MicrOpay data including employee records, leave, super funds, agreed rate pay class codes etc to ensure the system holds accurate up-to-date data
- Regular administration required including scanning of all payroll documents and storing electronically, accurate filing and archiving for auditing and legislative requirements
- Change of contracts for centre teams
About you:
- Significant payroll leadership experience in a company with over 1000 employees
- Previous experience with MircOpay and Humanforce is preferred but not essential
- Solid knowledge in regulatory requirements related to payroll, STP, PAYG, superannuation processing and reporting
- Ability to process large volume of detailed information accurately and quickly
- Excellent organisational and time management skills in a busy environment
- Effective interpersonal skills and professional communication style
- Detail oriented
