Hokkien Beef Noodles
Our Hokkien Beef Noodles recipe is a tasty crowd-pleaser that will fill tummies – who doesn’t love noodles for lunch or dinner? Tried and tested on children at our Centre, it’s sure to become a family favourite, combining fresh flavours, beef and vegetables.
This recipe was provided by our wonderful Cook Monte at Guardian Blackburn North.
Serves 4-6
Ingredients
- 4-5 carrots, sliced
- 5 sticks celery, sliced
- 3-4 zucchini, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 500g beef mince
- 6 packs hokkien noodles
Sauce
- 1/2 cup oyster sauce
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 60ml dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon five spice
Instructions
- Heat a large frying pan or wok over high heat. Add the beef and cook for 5 minutes, tossing occasionally, until browned.
- Add the vegetables and cook for 3-4 minutes or until tender.
- In a small bowl, combine the oyster sauce, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and five spice.
- Add the sauce to the pan with the beef and vegetables. Stir to combine.
- Add the hokkien noodles and toss everything together. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Divide among bowls and serve hot.
Vegetarian alternative: Swap the beef mince for a plant-based alternative, such as crumbled tofu.
