Tell us about your time working in early childcare and education so far and what inspires you each day?

This is my 14th year working in the early childhood industry. From a very young age I knew that it was my passion, so it’s all I have ever known. The most rewarding part of the role for me is being able to have a positive impact on so many families and children’s lives, providing them with a special place that feels like one big family.

As Centre Manager of Rouse Hill, I find inspiration in the dedicated team of Educators that I am lucky enough to support each day. I also get inspired seeing how happy and inquisitive the children are as they explore the environment that is aimed to grow and challenge their little minds.

What have you learnt about children during your early childcare and education career and how would you sum up your approach/passion to helping them on their learning, emotional, social and life journey?

I strongly believe children learn when given endless opportunities to explore, investigate, research and create their own theories in environments that reflect their current interests. I believe in the importance of Educators taking on a supportive role which encourages children to share ideas, reflect, think critically and take risks.

What are you most excited about working with children on/teaching children about and why?

I very much look forward to the exciting journey of leading a motivated team and guiding and supporting them to embed high quality practices, programs and environments where children can excel. I also enjoy creating a space where families and children immediately feel a sense of belonging and trust, and can form meaningful and long lasting relationships with us as Educators.

2 quick fun facts about Kate

  1. I am fortunate enough to have many wonderful family members and friends to share my life with so my spare time is usually surrounded by them.
  2. I love going for long scenic walks (most recently with our newest family member Coco), relaxing at the beach and cooking.
