Guardian Little Steps Now Offering Children’s Haircuts

Little Steps childcare now offering children's haircuts

After overhearing some parents mention that they didn’t have time to book their children in for haircuts, Guardian Little Steps Centre Manager, Emily, decided to take action.

“That conversation really stuck with me, and I realised that it was likely a common problem amongst families,” says Emily.

“I then decided to offer the service in the centre to accommodate the families’ needs and further support them.”

Emily contacted a few local hairdressers before partnering with Chris from ZM Square Hairdressing, who offered the best value for the service at $25 per haircut at the centre.

“Once it was organised, some of the parents shared that their children had never had a haircut before and were scared of the hairdressers, so we wanted to make it a fun experience for the children,” shares Emily.

“We highlighted the fact that children were able to get their haircut with their friends in a relaxed and safe environment that they are comfortable and familiar with.”

“Before Chris came in, we scheduled bookings like at a normal salon, so that the children could prepare for their turn or have time to change their minds.”

The children loved having a visitor to the centre, and most of them enjoyed getting their haircut with their friends.

“Some of the children that were booked decided on the day that they didn’t want a haircut, which was understandable. Chris was very accommodating of the last minute changes and we assured the children that they didn’t need to get a haircut if they didn’t want to,” shares Emily.

“The families were really happy with the service provided and thought it was a great idea. They’ve told me that they’d be happy to use the centre salon the next time their children needs haircuts.”

Emily and the team look forward to continuing the service in the New Year for the children and families of Little Steps.
