Karlie is the Centre Manager for Guardian Coorparoo – an incredible light-filled and spacious Centre that has a mix of indoor and outdoor learning environments to take advantage of the beautiful Queensland climate. Karlie took a few minutes out of her busy day to share with us some insights she’s gained since joining the early childhood sector more than 30 years ago!

Tell us a little about your time working in early childcare and education

I have been working in  education for 15 years. I started as a trainee in the childcare Centre I attended as a child, and worked my way up to assistant, Lead Educator, 2IC and then Centre Manager.

What have you learnt about children during your career?

I have learnt that children have the biggest heart – they are always willing to give things a go and they forgive so easily.

What is your fondest memory working in childcare?

Working as a trainee in the Centre I grew up in!

Why did you choose to work for Guardian

I chose Guardian because of the amazing curriculum that they offer. Guardian also has high expectations when it comes to the care of children, which really aligns with my values.

What excites/inspires you most about working with children and why?

I love learning from children and seeing their faces when they learn something new.
